New York Addresses Unfair and Unlawful Discrimination in the Sale of Life Insurance and Annuities

NY | The New York Department of Financial Services today issued Insurance Circular Letter No. 6 (2023). It reminds insurers, especially those offering different versions of a product, of the state’s insurance law as pertains to unfair discrimination in the sale of life insurance policies and annuity contracts. Insurers are directed to review their product portfolios to identify offerings that are unlawfully discriminatory.
